If you use the Tarteel app in premium mode to memorize or recite the Quran, you may have noticed various color highlights on the text. This guide explains the meaning behind each highlight color, specifically focusing on your hifdh (memorization) history. These highlights differ from the text colors used for real-time feedback during your recitation.
Color Highlights and Error Frequency
The color highlights in Tarteel indicate the frequency of errors made during your past recitation or memorization sessions, regardless of the type of error (including peeking mistakes, diacritic errors, etc.). Here’s what each color signifies:
Red Highlights
Red highlights indicate the highest frequency of errors detected. These highlights mark the areas where you have consistently made mistakes, helping you identify the most problematic sections that need the most attention.
Orange Highlights
Orange highlights represent words with a moderate frequency of errors. While not as frequent as those highlighted in red, these areas still require significant attention to improve your memorization accuracy.
Yellow Highlights
Yellow highlights indicate a lower frequency of errors. These areas show occasional mistakes, suggesting that while you generally recite these sections correctly, there are still some errors that need to be addressed.
Green Highlights
Green highlights indicate infrequent errors. These are areas where mistakes have been made, but not regularly enough to warrant a higher severity color. Green highlights help you identify parts of the text where you need minor improvements.
No Highlight
Areas without any color highlight indicate that you have consistently recited these sections correctly with no detectable errors in past sessions.
Please note that this is a premium feature, so you will need a premium subscription to access it.
Toggling the Highlight Feature
If you prefer not to see the mistake history highlights, you can easily toggle this feature on and off. Simply go to Settings, navigate to Marking, and under Highlight Mistake History, you can switch the feature according to your preference.
Alternatively, you can turn off the icon at the bottom of the Mushaf recitation screen.
Improving Your Recitation
One of the benefits of this feature is that you can work your way back from red down to green, and eventually to no highlight, if you consistently start reciting that ayah correctly again. This progression helps you track and improve your recitation over time, providing a clear visual representation of your progress!
In summary, the color spectrum from red to green (Red > Orange > Yellow > Green > No Highlight) provides a visual representation of the frequency of your recitation errors, helping you to focus on areas that need more practice and improvement. Additionally, the ability to toggle the highlight feature offers flexibility to tailor the app to your personal learning style, provided you have a premium subscription.
By understanding these color codes, you can effectively track your progress and identify areas for improvement in your Quranic studies. These highlights provide valuable insights distinct from the current text colors used to guide your real-time recitation. Happy reciting!
Comments
When I go to Memorization, I see words with certain percentages. How are these percentages calculated? Is it total mistakes / total times recited? I tried that but not getting the right percentages still. Can you elaborate on that please? Thanks!
