Use this article to set up a Tarteel goal that takes you through the Quran's chapters in reverse order, from Surah An-Nas back to Surah Al-Fatiha, and to follow that goal one chapter at a time. Reverse order is not one of the suggested goals, so you create it as a custom goal.
What does a reverse-order goal change?
A reverse-order goal changes the order of the chapters in your goal's plan. Your plan starts with An-Nas, then Al-Falaq, then Al-Ikhlas, and continues back towards the start of the Quran. Inside each chapter, you still recite the verses in their normal order, from the first verse to the last.
How do I set up a reverse-order goal?
To set up a reverse-order goal in the Tarteel app:
Go to the Goals tab.
Tap Start custom goal.
Choose your action (Memorize, Review or Recite) and your portion, for example 2 pages a day.
On the Range line, open the menu and choose Chapter _ to _. The app calls surahs "Chapters", so there is no "Surah" option.
Tap the first blank and choose An-Nas.
Tap the second blank and choose Al-Fatiha.
Tap View customized plan to check your plan. The first session starts with An-Nas.
Press and hold the confirm button to lock in your goal.
To memorize only Juz' Amma in reverse order, choose An-Nas to An-Naba' in steps 5 and 6.
The goal setup screen in the Tarteel app.
How do I follow my reverse-order goal?
To follow your reverse-order goal one chapter at a time:
Open your goal and tap Start Session. The app opens the next chapter in your plan, starting with An-Nas.
Recite the chapter.
When you finish the chapter, stop the session.
Go back to your goal and tap Start Session or Continue Session again. The app opens the next chapter in your plan, which is the chapter before the one you just finished.
You can also go to the previous chapter yourself instead of tapping Start Session. Any recitation of a chapter in your goal's range counts toward the goal. If Strict Order is on in your goal's settings, a chapter counts only after you finish the chapter before it in your plan.
Memorize and Review goals count a session only when you recite with the verses hidden. Recite goals count any recitation session.
Why does the app keep going forward after I finish a chapter in my reverse-order goal?
The Quran page always follows the normal order of the mushaf. A reverse-order goal changes the order of your plan, not the direction of the page. When you finish a chapter, stop the session and go back to your goal to start the next chapter in your plan.
Do I need Tarteel Premium for a reverse-order goal?
No. A free account can have 1 goal, and Tarteel Premium allows unlimited goals. A reverse-order goal works the same way on both.
