How do I choose what I get tested on?

You can be tested on any part of the Quran (a surah, a juz, a page, or a custom range you build yourself) and save your favorite ranges to reuse anytime. Read on to learn how or watch this tutorial.

Opening the Range Selector

On the Testing screen, tap on “Create Custom Range” to choose what you get tested on.

Building a Range with the Range Wheel

The range wheel lets you view the Quran by Surah, Juz, Hizb, Rub, or Page.

Tap any number of sections, in any order, or hold and drag to select several at once. Everything you select combines into a single test range. For example, you could combine Surah Al-Mulk and Juz 30 into one range.

Tap the Clear Button if you decide to remove anything you’ve selected and want to build the range from scratch.

Saving Ranges to Reuse

Once you've built a range, you can name it and pick an emoji for it, and tap “Save” to be able to reuse it. Saved ranges appear under Your Ranges on the Testing screen, so you can start a test on them anytime without rebuilding them.

To manage your saved ranges:

  • Edit or delete: slide a range to the right, or tap Edit above the list, to reveal the edit and delete buttons. Editing reopens the range wheel.

  • Reorder: tap and hold a range to drag it up or down the list.

  • The Your Memorization range can also be edited. Editing it takes you to the Memorization tab in your Dashboard, where you can update what you've marked as memorized.

What Is "Your Memorization"?

Your Memorization is a range Tarteel builds automatically from your memorization tracker: the parts of the Quran you've marked as memorized or have recited from memory in the app before. If you've never chosen a range, your first test starts here.

Learn more about how we know what you’ve memorized in the Memorization tracker article.
