How to remove a mistake

You can remove any mistake Tarteel recorded, for example a wrong flag or a word you revealed. Removing a mistake works the same way in recitation, memorization and tests. Only the screen you start from differs. A removed mistake no longer counts in your Mistake History, your highlights or your test score.

The video below shows how to remove a mistake from a recitation session. The steps for every screen follow after it.

Remove a Mistake while reciting from the Mushaf or During a Test

To remove a mistake on the word you just recited:

  1. Tap the highlighted word. A popup shows the mistakes on that word.

  2. Tap the remove icon next to the wrong mistake.

You can also tap any highlighted word in the Mushaf to open its mistake history and remove a wrong entry there.

Remove a Mistake From the Session's Mistakes List

To remove a mistake from the list of the current session:

  1. While reciting, tap the mistakes counter at the bottom of the screen. During a test, tap the red mistakes counter at the bottom of the test screen.

  2. Find the wrongly flagged mistake in the list.

  3. Tap the remove icon next to it.

Use this way when you noticed the mistake too late, or when you want to review several mistakes at once. After you stop reciting, the session's mistakes stay in the counter for as long as you stay on the page. Starting a new session, or tapping the clear button next to the microphone, empties it.

Remove a Mistake Later, From Activity

To remove a mistake from a past session:

  1. Open Activity from the dashboard.

  2. Find the session and tap the correction icon on its card. The icon appears only when the session has mistakes.

  3. Tap the remove icon next to the mistake.

The list opens on its own. You do not need to replay or continue the session. If you tap Continue Reading on the card instead, the session loads back into the Mushaf and its mistakes are in the mistakes counter again.

Put a Removed Mistake Back

A removed mistake can be put back from three places, the same three lists that show a session's mistakes: the mistakes counter during a recitation or a test, the correction icon on the session card in Activity, and the results screen at the end of a test. In each of them, removed mistakes sit in a Removed Mistakes group at the bottom of the list. To put one back:

  1. Open one of those three lists.

  2. Expand Removed Mistakes.

  3. Tap the + icon next to the mistake.

In a Test

Removing a mistake in a test works the same way. Three things are different:

  • The mistakes counter is the red counter at the bottom of the test screen. It is a running total for the whole session.

  • The results screen at the end of a test lists Total Mistakes and Removed Mistakes. Tap the + icon next to a removed mistake to put it back.

  • If you remove all of a question's mistakes, that question changes from failed to passed, and your score updates.
