How does test scoring work?

This article explains how questions are scored during a test, what the numbers on screen mean, and where your mistakes are saved afterward.

When Is a Question Marked Correct

A question is marked as correct only if you complete it with zero mistakes.

Revealing words also counts against you: tapping the single arrow counts the revealed word as a mistake, and tapping the double arrow reveals the rest of the ayah, which also counts as a mistake.

Your Score and Streak

  • Your score percentage is the number of correct questions divided by the total questions so far.

  • During a Testing Session, the streak flame lights up once you answer 3 questions correctly in a row.

What the Numbers on Screen Mean

The bar at the bottom of the test screen shows:

  1. Which question you are on

  2. Mistakes so far in this test

  3. Your score

  4. Your streak of correct questions

The Mistakes Counter

The mistakes counter on the test screen is a running total for the whole session, not just the current question, so it keeps climbing across questions.

Tap the counter to see every mistake made this session. If a mistake was flagged incorrectly, you can remove it. See A mistake was flagged that I didn't make.

The Results Screen

When your test ends, the results screen shows:

  • Your score percentage

  • Correct questions out of total questions (e.g. "Correct 8/10")

  • The Total Mistakes list for the session

  • Removed Mistakes (if you change your mind about removing the mistake and wish to add it back, simply tap on the + sign)

The buttons you see depend on how the session ended:

  • If you ended the test early: Keep Reciting (resume the session) or End.

  • If you completed the full session: Replay or Done.

Where Your Mistakes Are Saved

Mistakes from a test are saved to your Mistake History, unless the Temporary Session toggle was on for that session. In that case nothing is recorded.

You can review saved mistakes anytime from your Activity history on the Dashboard. See How to listen to your recitation recordings and mistakes.
