How do I switch to the Family Plan if I subscribed on Apple or Google?

You can move to the Family Plan yourself. Because Apple or Google handles your billing, there is one extra step: you must cancel your current subscription with them before you buy.

Why do I have to cancel first?

We cannot cancel an Apple or Google subscription on your behalf. Only Apple and Google can do that. If you leave it running, they will keep charging you on top of your Family Plan.

Cancelling does not cut off your access. You keep Premium until the end of the period you already paid for.

How to switch

  1. Find the Family Plan card and click "Switch to Family Plan".

  2. A window opens and asks you to cancel your current subscription first. Click the link inside it. Your subscription settings open in a new tab.

  3. Cancel your Tarteel Premium subscription there.

  4. Return to the Tarteel tab and tick "I've cancelled my subscription".

  5. Click "Switch to Family Plan" again. You go to the Stripe checkout page.

  6. Complete the payment.

You can also reach your subscription settings directly:

Your Family Plan starts right away. You can then invite up to 4 other people from the Family Plan section of your account page.

If you already cancelled with Apple or Google before you started, you will not see that window. You go straight to checkout.

Make sure you really cancel

We take your word for it when you tick the box. We do not check with Apple or Google. If you tick the box without cancelling, they will keep charging you, and we cannot refund a payment they took. Cancel first, then tick.

Do I get anything back for the time I already paid for?

Annual subscriptions: you get a partial credit. We work out the unused part of what you paid, then apply 70% of it. Apple and Google keep a share of every app-store payment, and we cannot recover that share. The credit appears on the checkout page as a discount named "Credit for current subscription".

Monthly subscriptions: no credit. You pay the full Family Plan price.

Your cancelled Apple or Google subscription still runs until the end of the period you paid for. You keep that access alongside your new Family Plan.
